The cheeky and bold nature of kookaburras, and their famous, distinctive laugh, makes them popular the world over and an ideal mascot for the Australian pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo 2010. The unique laugh suggests a fun and happy nature, and their striking appearance provides a hint of the blue landscape of their homeland. Kookaburras are very family orientated and form permanent breeding pairs which mate for life. Kookaburras can be found in woodlands, open forest and coastal scrub as well as urban areas and they tend to live in the one place for most of their life. Our mascot loves having fun and telling jokes to make his family laugh. He's an early riser, waking up in a good mood, so good sometimes he can't help but start laughing. He's quite cheeky. He likes helping his mum and dad look after his baby sister but also likes to play tricks on his mum and dad with her.
He lives just outside the city with his mum and dad, but looks forward to his yearly trip to visit his grandparents in the country.
When he grows up, he wants to be an architect so he can design cool buildings like the Australian pavilion. He's studying Chinese at school and learning all about China.
He can't wait to visit Shanghai for the World Expo. He's really excited to go all the way to the top of the Pearl Tower in Shanghai and to walk on the Great Wall. He also can't wait to taste Xiaolongbao in Shanghai and taste the lamb chops at the Australian pavilion.

The 7th World Exposition : Expo 2010 Shanghai China - The Expo2010 emblem, depicting the image of three people-you, me, him/her holding hands together, symbolizes the big family of mankind. Inspired by the shape of the Chinese character" δΈ–"(meaning the world), the design conveys the organizers' wish to host an Expo which is of global scale and which showcases the diversified urban cultures of the world.
